Z494 Steel/Copper Core Pin
The HASCO steel/copper core pin
Z494 with beryllium-free copper core
is especially suitable for specific heat
dissipation in injection and compression
moulds.
HASCO is the first and only supplier to
offer the steel/copper core pins as
standard component.
The pins manufactured by the patented
MECOBONDŽ process have a hardened
steel casing and a copper core.
-
Features
- Optimum cooling effects when moulding blind and through holes (e.g. screw-on domes).
- Mechanical stability is comparable to Z 41 .
- Can also be used as a ejector pin.
- Laser build-up welding of steel (e.g. front face) and coating up to 500°C possible.
- Up to 50% shorter cycle times through significantly faster heat dissipation in thermal problem zones.
- Higher level of quality for the plastic parts.
- Improved process safety during injection moulding.

The principle of the Z 494
steel/copper core pins
Z 494 are manufactured according
to the MECOBONDŽ process.
The construction principle involves
the hardened steel forming the shell
of the core pin including the
contour-forming surface and hence
ensuring wear protection as well as
mechanical stability.
The copper is located in the inner
part of the mould core. A high-quality
metallic diffusion join exists between
the steel shell and the copper core.
On request, a laser build-up weld of
steel can be made on the front
(see above).
Application field
Typical fields of application for Z 494
are the demoulding of screw-on
domes, blind and through holes.
Installation of Z 494 in side cores.
Equally suitable for use as an ejector
pin with and without ejector sleeve.
