The goal of molding large parts with very thick wall sections is to reduce cycle time, eliminate sinks, and improve overall appearance of the part. Therefore, Engel has introduced their Watermelt Technology, which provides a single source for Machine, Control Systems, and Component Integration, to allow you a simply constructed part with profitable cycle times.
The Solution for Long Hollow Parts.
Especially for moulded parts with large volume hollow channels, Engel offers the water injection unit series as a supplement and alternative to the Gasmelt-process technology. In comparison to the process technology with the compressible medium “gas”, the media water allows better defined hollow areas. Additionally, the media water offers the advantage of inner-cooling of injection moulded parts due to the high thermal conductivity. Where allowed by the moulded part geometry, drastic shorter cycle times are the result. Both control of the water flow rate and realization of a water pressure profile can be accomplished with the Watermelt unit. The water flows in a closed circuit in order to minimize the amount of water loss. During the water recovery in the specifically foreseen tank, a continuous filtering and new treatment of the media occurs. As a result, the equipment and mold can be protected from micro organisms and abrasive constituents without the addition of chemicals.
